Sex In The Valley

The Heart of the Matter.

Posted on: November 9, 2011

I have no idea how this entire scandal and cover up has landed on JoePa’s shoulders, nor do I understand how everyone’s main focus is JoePa. Today it was announced that he is retiring and I personally feel bad that he had to go out like this. Here is his formal statement”

I am absolutely devastated by
the developments in this case. I grieve for the children and their families,
and I pray for their comfort and relief.

I have come to work every day for the last 61 years with one clear goal in
mind: To serve the best interests of this university and the young men who have
been entrusted to my care. I have the same goal today.

That’s why I have decided to announce my retirement effective at the end of
this season. At this moment the Board of Trustees should not spend a single
minute discussing my status. They have far more important matters to address. I
want to make this as easy for them as I possibly can.
This is a tragedy. It is one of the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit
of hindsight, I wish I had done more.

My goals now are to keep my commitments to my players and staff and finish the
season with dignity and determination. And then I will spend the rest of my
life doing everything I can to help this University.

I believe he is being sincere, but it is all opinion and speculation at this point. Now I would like to get back to what actually matters: the victims and the Second Mile. It is not fair that the victims’ stories have been overshadowed because everyone is looking for someone to blame. It is also not fair that a good cause is now in shambles. I believe the Second Mile can and should go on without those who have hurt it. I am also not alone in this thought. Today amidst all of the turmoil I stumbled upon a Facebook Event titled “Go the Extra Mile” here is the description

We as Penn Staters are prepared to show the world that we are more than just the actions of a few. We will unite together to make sure our voices and our support for the victims are heard.

This Saturday, we are extending an invitation to the children of the Second Mile Program, because they matter the most in the midst of all of this. We are proposing that our Football Seniors, men who have given so much to the image of our University, each walk out of the tunnel for recognition accompanied by the children of the Second Mile program. We are supporting the kids first and foremost, now more than ever

#WEstillARE Penn State

I will be attending this Saturday, and I hope this actually happens. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. My thoughts and prayers also go out to the accused persons families because out of all of us they must be the angriest and most shocked.
